THINK FISHING WITH DES SHIPP

Welcome to Issue 30 of Think Fishing and this month I wanted to show you how I go about catching big fish on heavily fished venues where these, big, educated fish are really tricky to catch. The venue was Cary Lake at Viaduct Fishery, or Scary Cary as the locals call it!, and it was the perfect lake to show you what can happen to these big fish on a heavily fished venue where a different approach to the norm can be the key to catching.

Most anglers that fish this lake complain about foulhooked fish and the norm is to feed pellet and fish them on the hook, but this results in getting fish in your swim that are really difficult to catch. My approach is different and as you’ll see in this issue, it works for me more often than not on these heavily fished venues. So sit back and enjoy, it certainly involved a lot of bottomed out elastic!
