THINK FISHING WITH DES SHIPP

Welcome to Issue 35 of Think Fishing and what a month it’s been weather-wise. Freezing conditions, snow, gale force winds your name it - we’ve had it all recently. Leading up to the day of our filming for the latest issue of Think Fishing, we’ve had freezing conditions with arctic winds blowing from the North and that has made fishing all around the country very inconsistent and patchy.

Wherever we decided to go for this issue it was going to be tough so I thought it would be the ideal time to go fish one of my old favourite venues, Docklow Pools in Herefordshire, but on the morning it was -2 and there was a thin layer of ice on the lake and, as I was tackling up, the clear parts of Farmer Jack Lake where I was fishing were freezing over too. It was on of those days where I wondered if I was going to get a bite at all and I knew from past experience that catching a few fish in those conditions was going to be all about getting that first bite. Where it was going to come from in my swim I had no idea but in the end it made for an excellent, intructional video that I hope you'll all enjoy watching.
